Life Scout donates Buddy Benches
A Life Scout of Troop 329 in Andrews, Ashton Altman, recently completed his Eagle Scout Service Project for Andrews Elementary School.  His project was to build and paint three "Buddy Benches" for the playground areas at the school.  The Eagle Scout Service Project provides an opportunity for Eagle Scout candidates to not only demonstrate their leadership skills and training but also to provide a service to their community.  The Eagle Scout Service Project is required in order for Boy Scouts to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.

The Buddy Bench concept is where students who are lonely or are in need of a friend simply sit on the bench and wait for another student to come and talk to them or ask them to play.  Hopefully, this will help make recess a more inclusive time for all students.

A huge Thank You to Ashton Altman for his dedication and service to our community and the Scout program.  Andrews Elementary School wishes him much success as he works towards earning his Eagle Scout Rank.
